Introduction
A friend told me I should start a blog so that family and friends can know what I´m doing since I´m usually away from home. I'm not much of a writer but I will try to update everyone as much as possible. I don't know where I'll be in the next five years but I have a plan. I should be in Ecuador in the next month on an internship with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for International Affairs. God willing, I'll be back for my parents 25th anniversary in December. Then, I hope to spend two years as a Peace Corps volunteer. Did I mention I love to travel? I want to see as much of the world as I can but first and foremost, I want to help others who are less fortunate than me. Oprah Winfrey once said, "I am bombarded by too many thoughts. How evil flourishes in a field of apathy. How the senseless destruction of life continues around the world, with people too busy to notice." That's how I feel. But how do we make people care about something seemingly removed from their lives? And what I am doing to contribute to the betterment of society? These questions have led me to seek preparation to work in a world in need of solidarity and understanding.
